Pultenaea gunnii

Pultenaea gunnii, the golden bush-pea, is a slender, erect to spreading shrub of the legume family (Fabaceae) typically growing to about 2 m in height. The much-branched stems bear small, alternate, egg-shaped to lance-shaped leaves with sharp or acute tips, often slightly recurved at the margins and bearing membranous stipules characteristic of the genus. From September to November the plant displays clusters of bright yellow to dark red pea-flowers borne towards the ends of the branchlets, the standard often marked with red lines, followed by short, flattened legume pods. The species is endemic to south-eastern Australia, where it is common and widespread in forest and woodland understorey across eastern Victoria, Tasmania, and the New South Wales south coast, typically growing on sandy or rocky soils in well-drained sites.
