Rubus lindleianus

Rubus lindleianus Lees (Rosaceae) is a vigorous bramble of the Rubus fruticosus aggregate, native to western and central Europe and locally naturalized elsewhere. It produces arching to high-arching biennial canes 2–3 m long that are angled, glabrescent, and armed with strong, broad-based, almost straight prickles confined to the angles. The leaves are palmately five-foliolate with leaflets that are ovate to obovate, sharply and coarsely doubly serrate, green and nearly glabrous above and greyish-felted beneath; the terminal leaflet is conspicuously long-stalked. The inflorescence is a large, broadly pyramidal, leafy panicle with patent branches bearing many pale-pink to nearly white flowers 2–3 cm wide, with reflexed sepals and stamens longer than the styles. The aggregate fruit is a globose to ovoid cluster of black, sweet drupelets ripening in mid to late summer. It grows in hedgerows, woodland margins, and rough ground.
